How Do ASHPs Work?
Step 1- Evaporation
The energy is absorbed from the air by large fans on the unit that draw the air in, before passing over a heat exchanger that sits directly behind the fan. Through the heat exchanger flows a liquid refrigerant and as the ambient temperature stored in the air comes into contact with the heat exchanger, the liquid refrigerant heats up. This process increases the temperature of the refrigerant changing it from a liquid to a vapour.
Step 2- Compressor
The warmed-up refrigerant is then passed into a compressor where it is condensed and its temperature is raised further by an electrically driven compressor to a point where it is ready for distribution around the central heating system of a home.
Step 3- Condenser
The condenser then transfers this heat energy into the water used in your heating and hot water system.
Step 4- Expansion Valve
The cooled refrigerant turns back into a liquid and the process starts again.

They are also capable of providing active cooling which saves time, money and space compared to installing a seperate AC system.

Yes, Heat Pumps can be connected to your existing radiators, underfloor heating, water tank etc. Your systems
compatibility will be checked during our home survey.
Are ASHPs noisy?
The Air Source Heat Pump systems all fall into the permitted development category. Fortunately, this means they
are not noisy.
What is the lifetime of an ASHP?
On average the lifespan of a Heat Pump is over 20 years.
What will happen to my oil tank?
Having an Air Source Heat Pump means you will no longer require oil to heat your home.
What other benefits come from installing an ASHP?
With a heat pump, you don’t need to worry about a flue, oil tank or gas connections. Plus you won’t need to
pay in advance to store fuel.
Does an ASHP require any maintenance?
There is only a minor maintenance jobs that fortunately the owner can do themselves. It includes cleaning
the outdoor unit and keeping it free of debris. It is also important to have your system serviced once a year.
